Murder Girl Lilah Love Lisa Renee Jones Books

Okay. First let me say I really like LRJ stories, but Romance this is not even close. Yes they have sex, yes we are told first hand that there is a weird sort of love, but you don't feel the connection between them. There is no feeling in the sex or the relationship between Lilah and Kane. It's just not there. And even if there was, you saw him really only at the end of the first book and starting in the middle of this book. Kane is a tough character but you just don't get a feel for him. And he's not hardly on 'screen'. This just isn't a romance....but it's a great mystery and head scratcher. Hopefully LRJ will pull stuff all together because on this one it's all over the map. I'm willing to give her a pass to get to the end game.

Here's what really TORQUES me off though.....AMAZON says this is a two book series. BULL PUCKY. There's 4 books and who knows if that's all. When I bought the first book, I saw there was a second in a few months. I'm willing to wait for that second book, so I bought the first one. When I bought the second, color me stupid as it ends without a true ending......that's because it's only book 2 of a 4. This kind of writing has to stop. LISA...TELL YOUR READERS HOW MANY BOOKS THERE ARE AND FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE STOP PUBLISHING WHEN YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE BOOKS ARE ALL GOING TO BE DONE. Have some faith that if you continue to write serials to get more money out of us, that we'd be willing to pay for all of the series. As it is, I'm very disappointed.

Recap: Disappointed in the fact that there is no romance, that there are 2 more books of the series that I didn't know I was going to have to buy, that the rest of the books don't have a release date. But what is there is a well written mystery.

Murder Girl Lilah Love Lisa Renee Jones Books Reviews

Murder Girl (Lilah Love #2) by Lisa Renee Jones
4 stars!!!

“Don’t f*** with the Love family.”

Murder Girl continues where Murder Notes left off and I was thankful for the re-cap from Lisa Renee Jones at the very beginning because I must admit, my memory was a little hazy. Much of my review of Murder Notes applies to this book and while we had some questions answered, a slew more were generated. But it is this that keeps those pages frantically turning, the suspense and intrigue continues, and more and more suspects come to the fore. To be honest, I don’t trust anyone in this book other than Lilah and Kane, everyone seems to have a questionable side, so you really don’t know who to trust…if anyone at all. With a plethora of possible candidates Lisa Renee Jones perfectly pulls you in, keeps your grey matter whirring at a mile a minute and has you frantically trying to read between the lines, but I just can’t call this one.

“You said Kane is everyone’s enemy but mine.”
“His enemies want to control him, but only you can. That makes you a very powerful person.”

Lilah Love is still an enigma, she still has a lot of baggage but her cold heart and ambivalence still makes her hard to warm up to, but she is growing on me. The more that is revealed helps you to further understand her and her mannerisms. Lilah is a total badass, she can more than handle herself and the way her mind works is fascinating. It takes a brave person to take her on and even braver to try and blackmail her with secrets she definitely doesn’t want uncovered.

“Drama follows you, Lilah Love.”
“No…dead bodies follow me…you should remember that.”

Kane is still an enigma and Lisa Renee Jones certainly keeps their sexual connection in the background in this book too, but I feel that maybe this is going to be expanded upon in the next one, at the moment these two are just concentrating on the task at hand. I was surprised by one of Kane’s actions considering the secret that these two are trying to keep under wraps but knowing Lilah…I can understand why. I am still intrigued as to Kane and Lilah’s back story as a couple, we still don’t have all the details and I must admit, but curiosity is still piqued.

“He’s a criminal. I’m an FBI agent. He buried a damn body without asking me. And yet I still effing love him. And on a day like today, I know love cuts.”

The action in this book is what really keeps the pages turning and being a crime programme aficionado, this book was definitely right up my alley. A cross between Criminal Minds and CSI, this book has a touch of everything for us crime junkies and Lisa Renee Jones did an amazing job of keeping the suspense up, the reader captivated and that forever anticipation. While artistic license has definitely been flaunted, I didn’t care, it still made for exciting, engrossing reading and I cannot wait for the next book in this series, it seriously cannot come quick enough.
This is the second book in the Lilah Love series, a continuation of, and resolution to, the intriguing suspenseful events that unfolded in the first book.

The case in the Hamptons becomes more complicated with each passing day and FBI Agent Lilah Love, a woman with a serious dark side she has yet to fully accept, has to unravel enigmas which strain her comfort level as they hit too close to home, in more ways than one.

Lilah has much to contend with on a case of connected murders across the country that have lead back to her hometown. Her father’s political ambitions have driven him down a possibly dangerous and corrupt path causing Lilah to postulate compromising questions as she rethinks her own past.

Local law enforcement wants their murder case closed having set their sights on the wrong perpetrator, not having bought the profile of an assassin ticking victims off of a hit list. A stalker continues to leave taunting notes implying knowledge of the secret Lilah shares with the son of a man who ran a drug cartel, said man being her ex-lover from two years ago.

With the presence of her other ex-lover, another FBI agent, a good man she’s unable to love, there’s animosity between the two men. Among all this Lilah needs to confirm her assassin theory so the FBI can take jurisdiction and find the true killer as the deaths mount up. The only person Lilah trusts is the man who walks between two worlds, the man who gets her, who understands the darker side of her psyche and that she loves but the badge is always between them.

This book had an awesome intricate plot, it was fast-paced action and suspense; there were insidious enigmas with confounding twists/turns to keep the reader engaged. The heroine was a complex, feisty, fascinating individual. This story has a blend of everything that meshed beautifully murders, betrayals, conspiracies, dirty law enforcement, assassins, patriarchs of drug cartels, and a powerful elitist society manipulating the strings. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. This is the end of the duet but not the end of the series, some things were left for future resolution.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.
